While the name of the officer has not been released “as charges have not been laid,” sources told DESIBUZZCanada that he is South Asian or Middle Eastern. We have been provided with a photo of the accused but we can only identify him by his initials, which is DS. Former Vancouver Police Const. Neil Logan, whose alleged associate in the drug trade was an Indo-Canadian man from Surrey, was also recently charged with a number of offences. He too was suspended and the VPD said he is no longer an active member of the force.

SURREY - A young Surrey RCMP, possibly South Asian or Middle Eastern, officer was arrested after an anti corruption probe, which allegedly exposed his ties to warring local gangs.

"While I can't provide specifics with respect to the nature of the allegations, I can confirm that once we became aware, immediate actions were taken," said an RCMP spokesperson.

Sources told Global News that the constable was taken into custody earlier this week, after he was discovered inside a vehicle with known gang associates. Sources told DESIBUZZCanada that the officer also allegedly leaked info to Brothers Keepers gang.

“He’s a young punk from Ottawa and should have never been hired,” a source told DESIBUZZCanada. “He was very stand offish with members.”

Postmedia reported that RCMP E Division spokesperson Dawn Roberts confirmed the “probationary” member with less than two years’ experience “has been removed from operations and suspended.”

She would not provide more details of the investigation except to say it was not being done by Surrey RCMP, but by another unit.

While the name of the officer has not been released “as charges have not been laid,” sources told DESIBUZZCanada that he is South Asian or Middle Eastern. We have been provided with a photo of the accused but we can only identify him by his initials, which is DS.

Postmedia reported that they have learned that the officer allegedly had troubling connections to a Lower Mainland gang currently involved in the conflict that has left several young men dead over the last few weeks.

The investigation into the officer has been going on for months, sources say.

The allegations come just two weeks after a Vancouver police officer was charged with theft, breach of trust and possession of a controlled substance.

Const. Neil Logan, whose alleged associate in the drug trade was an Indo-Canadian man from Surrey, was also suspended and the VPD said he is no longer an active member of the force.

The arrests come amid a spike in gang warfare in Metro Vancouver. In recent weeks six people have died in gang-related shootings.
