SURREY – In what can only be described as a huge tragedy for Indo-Canadian families as three young men died in a horrific crash on the Patullo bridge on Valentine’s Day last Friday.

Police have not released their names but chatter on social media pointed to the three 18-19 year-olds dying after their speeding and out of control car hit a semi-trailer truck on the bridge which may have been due to the youngsters racing. One youngster survived with serious injuries.

Surrey Police Service had the Patullo Bridge fully closed both ways while police investigated the major accident that resulted in three fatalities and one person being treated for life-threatening injuries.

At approximately 10:07 pm on February 14, police were advised by BC EHS of a collision involving three vehicles, two passenger vehicles and one semi-trailer truck, on the east end of the Patullo Bridge in the southbound lanes.

One other occupant of one of the passenger vehicles was transported to hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. At this early stage the extent of the surviving occupants’ injuries are unknown. The driver of the semi-trailer truck was unhurt and remained on scene.
