SURREY – An Indo-Canadian man earlier sought by police for unprovoked stranger assaults has been arrested and charged.

Although he hasn’t been named yet, the alleged suspect in two unprovoked stranger assaults that occurred on February 9 has been arrested by Surrey Police Service (SPS) and charged by BC Prosecution Service.

Shortly before 11:30 am on February 9, 2025, Surrey Police Service Frontline officers were called to a report of an assault in progress at a business in the 6400 block 120 Street. SPS officers arrived and found two men had been assaulted, one physically and the other with a weapon, and the suspect had left the scene.

SPS’s Serious Crime Team led the investigation and over the course of the past week detectives were able to identify and locate the alleged suspect. He was arrested in Delta on February 15, with the assistance of the Delta Police Department and the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team.

The suspect has been remanded into custody and has been charged with one count each of assault with a weapon and aggravated assault. Police are not releasing or confirming his identity at this time due to the investigation being ongoing.
