SURREY – An Indo-Canadian man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant was arrested in Surrey.
Surrey Police Service (SPS) officers have arrested Gurdeep Shergill who is wanted by Peel Regional Police Service on a Canada wide warrant for extortion and firearms offences.
On July 11, a complainant contacted Peel Regional Police Service (PRPS) to report that they had allegedly been a victim of extortion and shooting. Through the course of their investigation, Peel Regional Police investigators subsequently obtained a warrant for the arrest of Gurdeep Shergill.

On September 7, SPS frontline members became aware of Shergill’s presence in Surrey. Working in conjunction with PRPS investigators, SPS frontline members tracked down and arrested Shergill for the Canada wide warrant.
The 26-year-old Gurdeep Shergill has been arrested by SPS officers for a warrant for the following charges:
*One count of Discharge Firearm with Intent contrary to section 244(1) of the Criminal Code
*One count of Extortion contrary to section 346(1) of the Criminal Code
Shergill has been returned to Peel Region with the assistance of BC Corrections Sheriffs to appear in court for those charges. Any inquiries about the original incident, alleged offences, or Shergill’s court status should be directed to Peel Regional Police Service.
Surrey Police Service would like to thank Peel Regional Police Service and BC Corrections Service for their assistance.
