Surrey Police Service (SPS) is investigating a shots fired incident in the 12300 block of 77A Street. On March 30 at approximately 1:45 am, SPS Frontline officers attended a Newton residence where shots fired were reported. On scene, police observed damage to a home and an unoccupied vehicle that was parked out front. Fortunately, none of the occupants of the home were injured.

SURREY - Surrey Police Service (SPS) is investigating a shots fired incident in the 12300 block of 77A Street.

On March 30 at approximately 1:45 am, SPS Frontline officers attended a Newton residence where shots fired were reported. On scene, police observed damage to a home and an unoccupied vehicle that was parked out front. Fortunately, none of the occupants of the home were injured.

The investigation into this incident is continuing with Major Crime Section (MCS), Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS), and Project Assurance officers now involved.

It is believed that this incident is connected to extortion.

SHOTS ALSO FIRED AT CLOVERDALE BUSINESS ON MONDAY

RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit (SPOSU) is investigating shots fired at a business in the 5400 block of Production Boulevard.

On March 30 at approximately 9:00 am, police received a report of multiple shots fired at a business that had occurred sometime overnight. The business owner and police noted damage to the exterior of the business. The business was not occupied at the time and there were no reported injuries. This is the second time that a business in the complex has been shot at. A previous incident took place on March 23.

The RCMP SPOSU General Investigation Unit (GIU) has now assumed conduct of the investigation and have confirmed that the shots fired occurred at approximately 00:49 am this morning. Based on information gathered thus far, investigators believe the incident is extortion related.
