SURREY – A man is dead following a shooting and now the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken over conduct of a homicide investigation in Surrey.
At approximately 11:15 am on March 21, RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit (SPOSU) officers responded to assist BCEHS and Surrey Fire Services with an unresponsive injured male in the 9800 block of Foxglove Drive, Surrey. Upon arrival, members located a man apparently suffering from injuries who was receiving treatment from BCEHS. Despite life saving efforts the man was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.
While the investigation is still in its early stages, it appears to be an isolated incident, and the suspect has been taken into custody. No charges have yet been approved by BC Prosecution Service.
IHIT has now taken over the investigation and are working in partnership with RCMP SPOSU to complete priority investigative tasks.
Anyone with information is asked to call the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
