Non-Partisan Coalition We-Belong-Surrey Hopes To Shake-Up Surrey Election
- July 7, 2022
A new non-partisan coalition We-Belong-Surrey said they are hoping to make a big contribution to the upcoming Surrey civic elections by helping to shape the conversation leading-up to the October 15th municipal election. “We Belong Surrey” is a coalition of businesses, community organizations and individuals that believe in a Surrey where all people are valued and belong, regardless of ethnicity, faith beliefs, sexual orientation, gender, socio-economic status, disability, or otherwise. The coalition believes that values rooted in diversity, equity and inclusion must be top of mind when residents go to the polls this fall,” they said in a press release Wednesday.

SURREY – A new non-partisan coalition We-Belong-Surrey said they are hoping to make a big contribution to the upcoming Surrey civic elections by helping to shape the conversation leading-up to the October 15th municipal election.
In the coming months the coalition will share its vision for an inclusive community through a series of educational and community-oriented events. The coalition welcomes all those who believe in values of integrity, inclusion, compassion, growth, and respect to join them as they seek to ensure that those elected on October 15th truly believe in a Surrey where all people belong.
The Coalition’s founding “Pillar Partners” include Alexandra Neighbourhood House, DIVERSECity, Peninsula Homeless to Housing Task Force, Surrey Board of Trade, UNITI, and XBa Centre of Dance. To learn more, host an event or volunteer, please visit: https://www.webelongsurrey.com/
The Group said the rejection of an affordable and inclusive apartment building in South Surrey called Harmony, was the catalyst for this coalition. However, the coalition is about so much more. Want to know more about Harmony? Watch Lauren's Story: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfPjuXj3zqQ
