SURREY – With two weeks to go in the Surrey election campaign, the temperatures are beginning to rise.

Keep The Surrey In RCMP (KTRIS) said a death threat was posted on the garage door of one of their supporters.

“We consider this a very serious incident aimed at KTRIS. The municipal election is now getting out of control,” the Group said in a press release.

KTRIS said on Saturday night, October 1, one of their supporter’s homes was subject to a graffiti-type, paint sprayed death threat, which the Surrey RCMP are treating as credible and are actively investigating.

“How low can Canadians sink to? Evidently this low! I am bitterly disappointed - it is illegal, unethical, immoral, dishonest and threatening. Is this a hate crime? Is this a connived strategy?, said Ivan Scott of the KTRIS team.

At this stage it is not clear who the perpetrators are, but KTRIS believes that due to the fact that KTRIS recently endorsed the Surrey Connect slate of Brenda Locke for the upcoming municipal election, that this was definitely targeted against them by one of the competing slate’s supporters.

KTRIS said they will be monitoring the situation very closely and will not be intimidated at all into reviewing our stance regarding the RCMP and our endorsement of Surrey Connect.
