Keep The RCMP In Surrey Group Endorses Brenda Locke And Her Connect Party
- August 10, 2022
Keep The RCMP In Surrey (KTRIS) group announced Monday that they are endorsing Mayoral candidate Brenda Locke and her Surrey Connect team in the upcoming City of Surrey municipal election. “Brenda Locke has been the clear choice for us all along because she supports, and has supported keeping the RCMP in Surrey over the past nearly four years” said Ivan Scott of KTRIS. “KTRIS has reviewed the other candidates’ positions on this issue and has concluded that Ms. Locke and her team is the only one with a position to keep the RCMP and end the SPS contract so we can all focus on public safety”.

SURREY — Keep The RCMP In Surrey (KTRIS) group announced Monday that they are endorsing Mayoral candidate Brenda Locke and her Surrey Connect team in the upcoming City of Surrey municipal election.
Scott added, “our organization is over 57,000 supporters strong and we are furious with how Doug McCallum has wasted millions of taxpayer dollars. Brenda Locke has a deep understanding of this issue on both the safety and budget sides.”
Scott outlined his reasons for keeping the RCMP in Surrey:
*Surrey RCMP have delivered an above-average safety record compared to other similar-sized cities
*Surrey would lose an average of $22 million per year in contributions from the federal government upon terminating any RCMP contract contract deadlines have constantly been missed by the SPS the project budget has ballooned from $19 Million to a possible $81.2 Million
Locke welcomed the endorsement, saying, “It is an honour to be endorsed by Keep the RCMP in Surrey and we thank them for their support. Surrey Connect is pledging to establish an RCMP office into City Hall to ensure partnership in all safety issues for Surrey residents”. Scott confirmed, “Brenda Locke is someone you can collaborate with and talk to - she is practical and wants the best for our great city.”
KTRIS wants Surrey voters to know that this “transition” is not a done deal. A lawyer close to the project stated, “What we are talking about here is a Memorandum of Understanding and it can be terminated. It is definitely not too late to keep the RCMP in Surrey.”
KTRIS urges all voters to get out on October 5th, 8th, 9th, 12th, or 15th as this election will determine our future for decades to come.
