LOS ANGELES – The 20th Century Studios unveiled a first look of Steven Speilberg’s remake of West Side Story featuring a cast of Hollywood’s dazzling young talent including Baby Driver star Ansel Elgort as Tony and Rachel Zegler as Maria.

The original 1961 West Side Story is a Romeo and Juliet inspired tale and a classic musical beloved by many film lovers and is a part of movie history. The release of first look of Spielberg’s adaptation of the adored movie allows fans to have a feel of what the movie is going to be, reported Vanity Fair.

With the arrival of the new images of the film set to release in December of 2020, we get to see hotties Elgort and Zegler as Maria and Tony. Zegler, who is no stranger to live musicals, is making her acting debut in this movie.

Even though Zegler is a newcomer to the film industry she is no stranger to the role of Maria as she has played that character at her performing arts school production of West Side Story.

Here is Zegler's reaction to when she got the part of Maria:“When I played Maria on stage a few summers ago, I never could have imagined that I’d be taking on the role again in Steven Spielberg’s ‘West Side Story’.”

Showbiz veteran Rita Moreno, who played Anita in the original West Side Story, also stars in this film, playing the owner of the corner store in the remake.

West Side Story is currently set to be in theatres December 18 2020.
