MORE GANGLAND MURDERS: Couple In A Jeep Gunned Down Early Friday Morning In Langley!

The male victim has been identified as 18 year old, Sehajdeep Sidhu of Abbotsford.  Police said Sidhu did not have a criminal record but was known to police.  They believe that Sidhu’s murder was targeted and is linked to other gang violence that has occurred in the Lower Mainland.  Investigators have determined there were two other victims of the shooting and are expected to survive.

ABBOTSFORD – An Indo-Canadian teen is dead following a brazen shooting Thursday evening shooting in Abbotsford.

The male victim has been identified as 18 year old, Sehajdeep Sidhu of Abbotsford.  Police said Sidhu did not have a criminal record but was known to police.  They believe that Sidhu’s murder was targeted and is linked to other gang violence that has occurred in the Lower Mainland.  Investigators have determined there were two other victims of the shooting and are expected to survive.    

From the evidence and information received thus far, it appears there was a suspect vehicle that fled the scene after shooting at Sidhu.  The suspect vehicle, a black Nissan Pathfinder, was located in the 27000 block of 60th Avenue in Langley approximately 30 minutes after the shooting. 

“This was a brazen shooting in a quiet residential area around dinner time.  This incident showed a blatant disregard for the safety of the public.”  Cpl. Frank Jang of IHIT says, “We know there are people out there, who know the people involved.  They have information.  We need those people to come forward.”  

Sidhu was found near the intersection of Gladwin and Huntingdon roads after officers responded to reports of shots fired at about 6 p.m., an Abbotsford police press release said.

At approximately 6 p.m., the Abbotsford Police Department responded to multiple 911 calls of gunshots in the area of Huntingdon Road and Gladwin Road.  When police arrived, Sidhu was found in a parked vehicle with gunshot wounds.  He was pronounced deceased at scene. 

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken conduct of the case. IHIT is working in partnership with the Abbotsford Police Department, the Abbotsford Forensic Identification Section, the BC Coroner’s Service and the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit-BC to gather evidence.

Investigators will be in the area to complete canvassing and evidence gathering.

A witness at the scene said her husband heard six or seven shots before emergency responders arrived. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over the case, and says the shooting is believed to be targeted.

Several emergency vehicles, including cruisers and ambulances, could be seen in the area of Huntingdon and Gladwin roads after 6 p.m. The RCMP's Air One helicopter could be seen flying over the area.

Paramedics arrived to find a man lying in the street suffering multiple gunshot wounds. He did not survive. Another man who was shot was rushed to hospital.

A short time later, a burning vehicle could be seen in the area of 60th Avenue and Jackman Road, about 20 minutes from the shooting scene. The fire billowed thick black smoke in the air and was followed by a massive explosion.

The fire also ignited the grass before fire crews arrived to extinguish it. No drivers or passengers from the SUV could be seen in the area.

Police have not confirmed whether the incidents are related but vehicle fires have followed some recent shootings in the area.

"Certainly this has the earmark of things that are gang and drug involved. As far as the shooting is concerned, it certainly appears targeted," said Const. Ian MacDonald.

Later in the evening a man arrived at Abbotsford Regional Hospital with a gunshot wound. An Audi with bullet holes in it was also found abandoned.

Police are now searching for links between the two shooting victims, the SUV fire, and the abandoned car.

"We're anxious to know those answers as anyone else is. But we just have to move methodically and follow the evidence," said MacDonald.

Meanwhile, members of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team were on the scene in Langley after a woman and man were killed in what's believed to be a targeted double murder.

RCMP were called to 232 Street and 64th Avenue around 5:30 a.m. Friday after receiving reports of gunshots.

Police arrived to find a woman and man both suffering gunshot wounds. They could not be saved and both died of their injuries. Their identities have not been released.

Officers used yellow caution tape to close a stretch of 232 Street to traffic, and a Jeep with a smashed windshield and both doors open is behind the roped off area.

A large farm area just east of the Jeep is also behind police tape.

Langley RCMP said the initial phase of the investigation has led them to believe the incident is targeted and the force will be working in conjunction with IHIT.
