In honour of Canada's 150th birthday – Surrey-Fleetwood MP Ken Hardie honoured deserving Canadians with 150 year Legacy pins and plaques including the late Bruce Kehler, who was nominated by Vicki Gill and DESIBUZZCanada/DESIBUZZbc founder-editor R. Paul Dhillon. Kehler, who was known as Desi Santa and "White Man with Brown Heart", recently passed away. His daughters were on hand at the ceremony to accept the honour. Hardie also recognized Vicki Gill by bestowing her with the 150 year pin! Here is what R. Paul Dhillon and Vicki Gill wrote in their nomination of Bruce Kehler: "We would like to nominate our friend the late philanthropist and community-minded Bruce Kehler for the Canada 150 Legacy honours. There is very few people deserving of such a lofty honour but Bruce is absolutely the perfect candidate as his generousity and community spirit helped so many people, charities and causes. He embodied the giving spirit and spend much of his life giving back to the community and being a great corporate citizen with his various lumber companies."
