SURREY – An Indo-Canadian man and his family are $2 million richer but after Mandeep Maan found out about his BC/49 Lottery win, he said his whole family cried. But those were tears of joy.
Surrey resident Maan joined that lucky group last week when he won the $2-million jackpot on August 17.
He says couldn't believe the number of zeros when he checked his ticket on the BCLC's Lotto! app. He recalls, “When I learned I won, I was in my truck and started shaking.”
When he rushed home to tell his wife and children of the win there were a lot of tears. "At first, they thought something bad happened,” says Mann. “I told my wife and she started crying. She woke up our kids and they started crying as well."
Maan, who plays the lottery regularly, purchased the winning ticket at Town Pantry on 88 Avenue in Langley. He says he plans to use the money to help his daughter with her education. He wants to take some time to decide what else he will do with the two million but says that ultimately, "it’s going to make things smoother for helping my kids.”
He adds, “it feels great, I feel very lucky to have won the lottery."
