Brief Bios Of BHANGRALICIOUS Artists:

Jazzy-B6

Jazzy B. is a Made-in-Canada success story. He has taken the traditional sounds and lyrics of Punjabi folk Bhangra and infused it with western music for the younger generation. Jazzy B is easily recognized by fans of Bhangra forhis spiky hair and the range and depth of his vocals.

Babbu Mann4

Babbu Mann is Punjabi folk music rebel, a hell raiser bad boy who is as lethal with his pen as with his music and vocals. In many ways, he has not received the kind of respect among his peers and the music industry that he deserves.

Chamkila-use-this

The multi-talented Chamkila can be best described as a Punjabi folk music revolutionary, an outlaw if you will, who changed the music industry with his grounbreaking compositions, a heartland, rural voice and song-writing which during his hey-days of the 1970s was truly way ahead of its time with socially relevant, morally taboo and sexually suggestive lyrics that created ripples in the conservative culture of Punjab. He is widely touted the most influential icon in the history of Punjabi music.

Gurdas Maan is one of a kind when it comes to Punjabi music. He has single handedly changed the face of Punjabi music and culture and defined the spirit, aspirations, heartaches and triumphs of a whole generation of Punjabis over the last three decades.

Gurdas-Maan-use-this

UK Bhangra-pop sensation Jassi Sidhu will always be associated with his old band B21 – the UK-fusion power house – with whom he made his phenomenally fast rise in the world of international Bhangra.

Harbhajan-Mann-use-this-one

Harbhajan Mann was destined for stardom even before he left Canada for India to make it big in the Punjabi folk music world.  His abudent talent was evident even when he sang religious songs at weddings as a youngster but saw meteoric rise on the Indipop charts with the colossal hit called Oye Hoye.

Malkit Singh will forever be known as the Golden Star who has continued to shine after three decades in the UK and world Bhangra music world. Malkit was made a Member of the British Empire (MBE) by the British Queen in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace in 2009.

Sukshinder-Shinda-back-up

Sukshinder Shinda is called the Music Man for a reason. He is not only one of the most prolific producers in the Bhangra industy but the most versatile, delivering hits in practically every genre – be in the dance floor classics of Jazzy B. or the soothing melodious tracks of Gurdas Maan and Amrinder Gill. There isn’t anything in music that he has not mastered and he continues to deliver hit after hit.

Miss Pooja-back-up

No artist has made the kind of impact on Punjabi music recently than Miss Pooja, who has been dubbed The Queen of Duets. Miss Pooja singlehandedly revived the Punjabi duet songs and placed them on the top of DJ and radio playlists. She became so popular that every male singer wants her to record at least one track in hopes that the album will sell with her face on it.

Amrinder Gill has become one of the most recognizable voices in Punjab music in recent years. Known for his silky smooth voice set to a mix of delicate folk-rooted songs and up-tempo dance tunes guided by super-producer ‘The Music Man’ Sukshinder Shinda, Amarinder has gained a special place in Punjabi music.

Amrinder-Gill3

UK fusion pioneer Shin has always set himself apart as the original founder of UK Bhangra band Desi Culture Shock or DCS, which was formed in 1983. Shin, who has continued to lead it since its inception – has been shaking the UK bhangra industry and the world ever since.

Delhi 2 Dublin has created their own niche at the intersection of gritty hip hop and electronic beats, traditional Indian influences and that raw Celtic sound that packs a punch – all of which make you want to get up and dance.”

Dal DilVog (Dal Hothi) is first Indo-Canadian artist to have songs in Canada’s top 40, being featured on Much Music, Canada’s version ot MTV,and the first to be voted by world-renown musicians and U.S.A. Musician Magazine as one North America’s best top 10 unsigned artists.
