WON’T BACK DOWN: Pro-Khalistan Protestors Laugh At KDS Vice President After Verbal Tussle Over Signs
- April 20, 2023

Pro-Khalistan protestors were at Saturday’s Nagar Kirtan in South Vancouver, protesting against ongoing injustice against Sikhs in Punjab and India. They were doing so peacefully until allegedly Khalsa Diwan Society vice president Jagdeep Sanghera tried to interfere with the protestors by allegedly threatening to remove their signs. In a video shot by yelling DESIBUZZCanada photographer/videographer Sukhwant Singh Dhillon, who also shot these photos of the incident, clearly shows an agitated Sanghera being accompanied by VPD officer. The officer is escorting Sanghera away from the protestors but Sanghera turns around and yells at protestors in Punjabi, “Aethe hi khare – aa-jo” (We standing right here – come), at which time a visibly upset VPD officer grabs Sanghera by the shoulder and orders him to move along, which Sanghera is forced to finally abide by and move on. The peaceful protestors simply laugh at Sanghera and say we got more signs and people now, alluding to their earlier confrontation. This incident should have never taken place as protestors were peaceful. The Khalsa Diwan Society executive of so-called moderates are close with the local Indian consulate and the Indian government but this seems to be an isolated incident of Sanghera unhappy with the protestors but it’s hard to know why the incident happened.
