Mayor “Doug Paaji” Also Concerned That His Favourite Police Force The RCMP Not Doing Enough To Curb The Violence!

“I am deeply concerned that this kind of mob violence is happening with alarming frequency. In August, another large brawl in the Strawberry Hill area was caught on video. This behavior is repugnant and puts the public at risk. It is imperative that RCMP take immediate and strong action to get a handle on this kind of mob violence that is occurring far too frequently in Surrey,” Surrey mayor Doug McCallum, aka Doug Paaji, said in a statement.

SURREY – It seems like the Surrey RCMP is asleep at the switch as mob violence done by Indian students and other criminals in Surrey continues unabated with multiple incidents of such young South Asian-Indian men going around Surrey and brawling, breaking car windows and beating up people.

The latest incident came to light this week with a video circulating showing numerous young men swearing in Punjabi and brawling and breaking car windows and other physical violence as mercilessly beating up one man.

“There is a video circulating online that shows a group of young men fighting, many of whom are wielding metal or wooden rods and sticks as weapons, and vandalizing cars in a parking lot in the 7000 block of 128 St. area of Surrey. I am deeply concerned that this kind of mob violence is happening with alarming frequency,” Surrey mayor Doug McCallum, aka Doug Paaji, said in a statement.

Surrey RCMP said they are investigating the incident involving a large mob of young men ganging up on individuals in a parking lot and assaulting them and vandalizing their vehicles with golf clubs and other makeshift weapons.

In a press release Friday afternoon, Surrey RCMP confirmed that a video circulating on social media is related to an ongoing investigation which began on November 11, 2019.

The investigation began shortly before 2:30 am on Remembrance Day, when Surrey RCMP received two reports related to an assault with a weapon and vandalism to property in the parking lot of a business near 70 Avenue and 128 Street, in Newton.

“Our investigation has expanded since receiving a copy of a video which was posted to various social media platforms, in the late afternoon of November 14th. The Surrey RCMP General Investigation Unit has conduct of the file and is following up on several investigational avenues,” said Cpl Elenore Sturko, Surrey RCMP Media Relations Officer.

“While this incident and video is disturbing, having such a wide distribution could potentially help police further our investigation and identify those involved,” Sturko said. “We share the community’s concerns about this act of public violence and urge anyone with information to come forward.”

Police believe there are many individuals who were involved or who witnessed this incident who have not come forward to give their account of what transpired.

We urge anyone with information or who may know those involved to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous at 1-800-222-TIPS or www.solvecrime.ca.
