“It’s always been my dream and passion to act in films and that dream has come true. There is nothing more exciting then acting and watching other actors bring a character to life.  I love being in front of the camera and crowd whether it be films, music videos or modeling shows – I just love it,” Dasaundha Kaler told Desibuzzbc. “I’m excited to work with my friend R. Paul Dhillon, who directed the acclaimed film Sweet Amerika starring Gulshan Grover a few years back. This is a fun, party film and it’s a film about our generation.”

SURREY –Well-known Surrey-based actor Dasaundha Kaler, who has acted in numerous music videos and Punjabi films like Gippy Grewal starrer Mirza, is set to star as the villain “Crazy Tony” in filmmaker R. Paul Dhillon’s romantic comedy The Fusion Generation this summer.

“I’m excited to work with my friend R. Paul Dhillon, who directed the acclaimed film Sweet Amerika starring Gulshan Grover a few years back,” Kaler told Desibuzzbc. “This is a fun, party film and it’s a film about our generation.”

Kaler began training as an actor back in 2000 and appeared in many big run-way fashion shows for fashion designer Devi Bains-Gill’s Armaan-DBG, including one attended by Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan.

He also appeared in shows for Nari Collection and with stars like. Hrithik Roshan and  Ashwariya Rai as well as in a show featuring superstar Shahrukh Khan at the PNE Coliseum.

Kaler did my first music video in 2004 for song called Ja Ni Jhoothiye as a lead hero and lover, showcasing his chiseled body, making his female fans to drool over him. Following the breakout lead role, Kaler appeared in more high profile music videos including local boy and Bhangra superstar Jazzy B.’s much hyped Soorma video and Jugni with. Arif Lohar. He appeared in more than 20 music videos during this period.

He did his first feature film Silent tears in 2004 and followed up with the high profile Gippy Grewal starrer Mirza – The Untold Story as lead gangster role, playing alongside Bollywood-Punjabi film star Rahul Dev as his younger brother. Kaler featured in the big fight scene with star Grewal at the conclusion of Mirza, which is still talked about to this day for a film that has largely been forgotten.

“When I was 13 years old back in India, I didn’t know I will choose acting as a career,” Kaler told Desibuzzbc. “I use to pick dialogues from old films like Sholay, reciting villain Gabbar’s dialogue. When I came to Canada, I studied acting in high school and use to watch movies all night, in fact, I still do,” Dasaundha Kaler told Desibuzzbc.

“It's always been my dream and passion to act in films and that dream has come true. There is nothing more exciting then acting and watching other actors bring a character to life.  I love being in front of the camera and crowd whether it be films, music videos or modeling shows – I just love it!”

Kaler has since appeared in a few more films including the Punjabi film Sadi Wakhre Hai Shaan and he recently completed an English Horror film, which is expected to release in late 2016.

Here is a quick Q&A with Dasaundha Kaler:

DESIBUZZbc: You've done many music videos and also feature films – what do you like doing and why?

Dasaundha Kaler: I just love being in front of the camera whether it is music videos or film. Films require a lot more preparation because you have to learn dialogue and prepare for the character you are playing. Films are more enriching

DB: How did you approach your character in Mirza film? What was it like working with Gippy Grewal and Rahul Dev, who played your brother.

DK: Mirza was a great experience working with Bollywood actor Rahul Dev, who was a very understating co-star. But I had to prepare very hard for it.  And for my action scene with Gippy I had to train with for 2 months because the fight was very physical.

DB: What did you think of the final finished film and your role – were you satisfied that it came out the way you wanted?

DK: I find acting addictive for me and if I don’t do it then I don"t feel live.  After Mirza and my other film, I thought about leaving the acting for few years but I couldn’t do it.   start working again

DB: Do you eventually want to do lead roles?

DK:.Yes, I want to do lead roles but it’s hard to get people to believe in you. But I will take whatever comes my way.
