VANCOUVER – Police are asking for the public’s help to find a missing elderly man.
Ninety-eight-year-old Anant Basra left his home near East 29th Avenue and Joyce Street at noon today and has yet to return from his walk. Anant may be confused, and has had previous incidents of becoming lost
Basra is South Asian, 5’7” tall, has a slim build with minimal grey hair, and walks with a slight hunch. He was last seen wearing a black toque, a dark blue and grey jacket, a dark blue and grey sweater, navy blue sweatpants, and black rubber shoes with orange trim. He uses his blue and yellow umbrella as a cane and speaks limited English.
A search of the area around his home, checks of local hospitals, cab companies, transit, and other police agencies, have failed to turn up any sign of the missing man.
Anyone who sees Anant Basra is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately, ask for police and ambulance, and stay with him until officers arrive.
