SURREY - The Global Peace Alliance, now a BC Society (GPA) is pleased to announce its 2020 ‘Shaping Peace Together” Virtual Festival. It is the fifth of GPA’s peace festivals, this one through Facebook and YouTube taking place on November 27th 7pm, November 28th and 29th 2pm.

The challenges of moving to such a format put us a bit behind in celebrating the International Day of Peace which is usually in September. However, we are commemorating the 75th year anniversary of the United Nations. Its theme is bringing the world together to face and resolve all the inequities amplified by Covid19, to protect our environment and ensure equality and prosperity for all.

The festival will highlight many of these issues but also inspire us by showcasing the world’s diversity, resilience and compassion during this epic pandemic. Free for all to enjoy a wonderful array of artists through song and dance, such as the Wild Moccasin Dancers, Glisha, Roma Gry, and others from the Southeast Asian Cultural Heritage Society (SEACHS), the Chinese, Nepalese, Vietnamese, Taiwanese communities to name a few and our schools. We will listen to social justice advocates, prominent authors and speakers of our time such as Seth Klein, one the founders of the Canadian Center for Policy Alternatives, Trenton Pierre and Rochelle Prasad, too many to list.

As before, we will recognize the winners of our 2020 Peace themed Literary and Visual Arts contests. See you all there!
