AGASSIZ – Two indo-Canadian men from Surrey have been arrested following a stabbing investigation in Harrison Hot Springs over the weekend.

The arrests stem from a call made to the Agassiz RCMP on August 12, 2017 that a man in the 100-block of Lillooet Avenue had been stabbed.  Police and BC Ambulance arrived at the address where they located a male victim suffering non-life threatening injuries.  The victim was transported to hospital by BC Ambulance.

A day later, on August 13, two people were arrested by Surrey RCMP.

Armaan Singh Chandi, 20, faces charges of uttering threats, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, and fail to comply with recognizance.

Jagir Singh Kang, 19, faces charges of assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, and fail to comply with recognizance.

 Both men remain in custody pending court appearances later in August.

“Police believe this was a targeted incident where all the individuals knew one another,” says Corporal Mike Rail spokesperson for the UFVRD.

Chandi is well known to police from his criminal past. In March, 2016, Chandi along with Inderpal Singh Aujla, 19, were charged in connection with a March 1 drive-by shooting on Wakesiah Avenue in Nanaimo.

Chandi and Aujla were charged with attempt to murder with a firearm, intentionally discharging a firearm while reckless, use of firearm while committing an indictable offence, disguising face with intent to commit offence, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and flight from a peace officer, reported Nanaimo news Bulletin.

The two are alleged to have led police on a chase that went through Ladysmith and ended in Duncan. Four police cars were damaged and two Nanaimo officers were injured in the pursuit, according to Nanaimo RCMP.

Chandi and Aujla had some charges stayed at a court appearance, but it was only a re-ordering and Crown counsel decided to proceed with charges, Daniel McLaughlin, Crown spokesman said at the time.

It is not known what happened to that case but obviously Chandi is still involved in criminal activity.
