TORONTO – An Indian man and his accomplice were arrested by York Regional Police and charged after a man was held against his will and forced to withdraw money from several ATMs in Vaughan.

Twenty-two-year-old Mannan Khanna and 32-year-old Jessica Kane are charged with armed robbery in Vaughan.

The incident happened on Jan. 19., at approximately 9:30 a.m., in the area of Major MacKenzie Drive West and Jane Street, located near Canada’s Wonderland.

The victim reportedly met the suspects while “attempting to arrange a sexual encounter” and entered their vehicle to negotiate, police say.

Investigators allege a female suspect threatened the victim with a knife and demanded his banking information, while a male suspect drove to several ATMs and withdrew cash.

The victim was later released. Police did not say if the victim sustained any physical injuries, if any.

Thirty-two-year-old Jessica Kane, of Vancouver, is charged with armed robbery, forcible confinement and three counts of breach of probation.

Police say she was wanted in Alberta at the time of the offence.

Mannan Khanna, 22, of Toronto, is also charged with armed robbery and forcible confinement.

Police have released images of the suspects, saying they believe “there may be additional victims across Canada.” They are encouraging those victims to come forward.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
