SURREY – The first of four Neighbourhood Vaccination Clinics got underway last weekend at Bear Creek Park. To avoid long waits for people, the first 1,000 Surrey residents to arrive at the clinic received wristbands from organizers for a same-day appointment.

Shortly before 5pm, 1000 wristbands were given out to Surrey residents, 18+, looking to receive their first dose of the COVID vaccine. The Neighbourhood Clinics in Surrey are a partnership with Fraser Health and the Province of BC.

“I want to thank and commend all our residents who came out to make the first day of our Neighbourhood Clinic such a success at Bear Creek Park,” said Mayor Doug McCallum. ““If today is any indication, I am confident that all 1000 doses allocated each day at our four Neighbourhood Clinics will find their way into the arms of Surrey residents. If you have yet to receive your first shot, 1000 doses will be made available again at Bear Creek Park tomorrow for residents of Surrey, 18 and older.”

The public was alerted through Social Media and signage on site once today’s Neighbourhood Clinic reached its vaccination capacity for the day.  The Bear Creek Park location will hold a second day of vaccinations tomorrow with another 1000 doses available to Surrey residents, 18 and older, who have yet to receive their first shot. With more Neighbourhood Clinics planned for this weekend, people in Surrey have additional options to get vaccinated.
