SURREY – The Surrey election campaign is getting heated with just over one week to go till election day with claims of vandalism and theft of Jinny Sims led Surrey Forward’s volunteer’s vehicle.

Surrey Forward said in a press release Thursday morning that during Wednesday evening’s Surrey Board of Trade Mayoral debate, their campaign volunteer had her vehicle vandalized and many items stolen, one block away from the Newton RCMP Station. Tires were slashed, ignition destroyed, and many items were stolen, right under the nose of those tasked to protect Surrey.

“The police are now investigating,” said Sims, Mayoral Candidate for Surrey Forward. “They have suggested that the crime could be politically motivated, but even with polls showing Brenda Locke at 26% and me at 22%, I am convinced there is no political motive.”

“This is petty crime, committed by petty criminals.”

“And this is why my Safety Charter commits to cracking down on petty crime to stop petty criminals from becoming career criminals. There is too much gang activity centred around Surrey’s drug trade.”

“Surrey Forward will enable legal marijuana sales, work with the police to create a crime reduction strategy and commit to eradicating organized crime in Surrey.”

“We have a plan to tackle crime while Brenda Locke and Doug McCallum have plans to pick which uniforms the police wear.”
