The other day, my esteemed friend, Mr. Sucha Singh Claire, called regarding the preface I had penned for the directory he meticulously compiled back in the '70s, chronicling Vancouver's once-vibrant Punjabi Market.
Mr. Claire stands as a beacon of entrepreneurship in Vancouver South, having pioneered the clothing and drapery business in the area. Yet, his ambitions extended beyond mere business endeavours. Immersing himself in the art of writing, his pen, steeped in Punjabi ink, has crafted many articles spanning diverse topics over the years. His eloquence has garnered immense respect, earning him accolades as one of this region's most esteemed writers and columnists. Additionally, he has left an indelible mark by authoring several books.
Beyond his literary pursuits, Mr. Claire has been deeply involved in numerous organizations, assuming roles as president, director, treasurer, and volunteer across cultural, business, literary, health, and hospital boards.
Seeing my humble contribution grace the pages of Mr. Claire's directory brought me great pleasure. Perhaps it marked the inception of his literary journey. Even in his senior years, Mr. Claire continues to immerse himself in the joys of reading and writing.
With profound admiration for this remarkable individual, characterized by his politeness, humility, and compassion, I extend my sincerest wishes for Mr. Claire's continued well-being and good health.
