Street Sign Bearing The Name Of Indo-Canadian Pioneer Herman Braich Vandalized
- September 13, 2022
The street sign bearing the name of Indo-Canadian pioneer Harman S. Braich was vandalized in what appears to be a targeted act of hate towards the Braich family who continue to be a pillar, pioneer and contributing family to the Mission community. Herman S. Braich arrived in Mission in 1925 at the age of 14. Braich founded the first sawmill and his sons and daughter were all legendary athletes who carried the Mission torch for decades. Brach was also bestowed with honour in 2000 and awarded Citizens of the Millennium.

MISSION – The street sign bearing the name of Indo-Canadian pioneer Harman S.
Many suspect that the vandalism could be due to the fact that Braich’s youngest son, H S Kenny Braich recently announced his intention to seek the Mayor’s Office in the city.
“This saddens me that an individual would display such disrespectful behaviour towards the legacy of the Braich family,” said Mission Councillor Ken Herar, who posted the tape-covered sign on Facebook.
