CHANDIGARH – A new Punjabi film star is born as Harman Virk gets set to debut with the family-fun filled romantic drama Lakeeran, releasing worldwide Next Friday, October 21.
The film is produced by the renowned Punjab-based entertainment park pioneer Wonderland Amusement Parks Pvt., the operators of one of the biggest entertainment parks in Punjab. Their film production company Wonderland Productions is also marking their debut with Lakeeran, a big budget Punjabi film that is a fun-filled romantic drama geared towards the whole family.
Lakeeran (Life Lines) stars Harman Virk and Yuvika Chaudhary (star of a very popular TV reality program which airs nationally in India) in lead roles with veteran actors like Shivendra Mahal, B.N. Sharma, Poonam Sood and Nirmal Rishi.
This is romantic family drama, which is being distributed in Canada by well known writer-producer-director R. Paul Dhillon's new distribution company CSS (Chak Samunder Shera) Releasing, will have a wide appeal to Punjabi film lovers.
With the release just around the corner, star Harman Virk is hugely excited about your role in the movie. “Harman the character I play is high on life, an NRI boy living aborad, enjoying life boisterously," he said. "He comes to India and is played at the hands of destiny, falls in love which changes his life forever."
He said the character is poised, strong, matured and honest and believes in destiny and is determined to go lengths to be together with his love interest.
“I am a completely different person in reality than what I’ve played on screen. I am not as mature as the character I play," he said
What inspired Harman to want to seek stardom in movies?
“Well, I always wanted to become a model but my father advised me to become an actor instead. I knew nothing about acting so yes taking his advice seriously I took acting courses for 6 months and worked really hard to hone my skills. I am still in the learning phase. Being an actor is definitely enjoyable because to get to live so many characters on screen, you can be whoever you want to be. The ball has started to roll and I am truly excited about this new journey.”
How was it working with Yuvika Chaudhary?
"Yuvika is a great actor to work with. She is humble, very down-to- earth and very sweet. I enjoyed my comradery with her thoroughly. She was very helpful and gave me some acting tips though out. She made me comfortable on the sets from day 1 of my shoot."
What should the audience expect from Lakeeran?
"It is a romantic drama. The movie will reinstate your faith in love and destiny.
Lakeeran means the destiny lines on your palms and the overall message is that your grit and credence in love can change your fate forever. The movie has many emotional scenes and well has rib tickling comedy.
The movie is bold, honest and breaks many shackles of the society. It is releasing on Oct 21 st and I am hoping the audience like as much as I enjoyed doing it."
The producers invite audiences of all sizes – especially because this is a family film – to come and fall in love with Punjab all over again. Go to the nearest theatres to immerse yourself in a story that would make you laugh, cry and smile.
