SURREY — A South Asian man is wanted in an alleged Surrey bank robbery Wednesday, according to Surrey RCMP.

They're asking for the public’s assistance to identify the man, whose image was captured by surveillance cameras.

On Wednesday (Aug. 10) at around 3:50 p.m., police received a report of a bank robbery near the intersection of 120th Street and Nordel Way. The suspect produced a weapon and threatened staff before fleeing the scene, police say.

Nobody was hurt during the incident.

Surrey RCMP's robbery unit obtained the surveillance photo seen above.

The suspect is described as a South Asian male in his early 20s, with a thin build. He was wearing a black and red jacket with white stripes and "West Coast Selects FC" on the upper left chest.

“Institutional robberies are not victimless crimes,” said Surrey RCMP Corporal Scotty Schumann.

“It can be a very traumatic incident for anyone involved. Protecting the employees and customers is a priority for police, and by identifying this suspect we can improve safety for all.”

Anyone with more information is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers, if they wish to remain anonymous, at 1-800-222-TIPS or www.solvecrime.ca.
