SURREY – Since the murder of notorious Brothers’ Keeper gangster Harpreet “Harb” Dhaliwal in downtown a few weeks ago, there seems to be a gang war on the horizon with shooting and killings on almost a daily basis.

On Saturday, Corrections Officer Bikrameet Randhawa was murdered in a strip mall in North Delta and since then there has been a shooting everyday this week with the latest being Tuesday night at about 8:52 pm, when Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a dropped 911 call in the 9700 block of 161A street, Surrey.

A woman was shot in the Surrey’s Guildford neighbourhood and on Wednesday, Homicide investigators confirmed she has died from her injuries.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has now taken over the file. However, investigators do not believe this was gang-related.

The woman was rushed to hospital after Surrey RCMP officers found her with a gunshot wound while responding to the call.

One male suspect, who was not identified, was taken into custody without incident near the scene. He has had previous run-ins with police.

The investigation is still in its early stages, and the motive for this shooting is unknown at this time. Officers conducted neighbourhood canvassing and speaking with witnesses to obtain further information.

The victim, who has not been named, was not known to police. This is the fifth shooting on the Lower Mainland since Friday.

Anyone with further information who has not already spoken to police is asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or, if they wish to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at

On Monday, another man, who has been identified as a young Indo-Canadian man on social media, was  shot and seriously injured outside a busy Langley shopping mall.

According to police, they were called to Willowbrook Mall around 3:30 p.m. Monday where they found one man with “potentially life-threatening” injures. Although it is early in the investigation, a spokesperson for the Langley RCMP says it does not appear to be a random shooting.

A car was found burning at a berry farm in Aldergrove around 4 p.m., and police are trying to figure out if the two incidents are related.

“The area surrounding the scene will be cordoned off for a significant amount of time,” according to a statement from police.

Police forces in the lower mainland are coming under criticism that they are not doing enough to stop gang violence which seems to be getting out of control.

Witnesses are being asked to call 604-532-3200 and anyone who was in the area is being asked to review their dashcam footage. Anonymous tips can be submitted to CrimeStoppers.
