SURREY – There were shootings galore in Surrey in the week leading up to new year’s day and continued into the new year with the latest shooting taking place early Friday morning.
RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit (SPOSU) are investigating a shooting that took place in North Surrey.
On January 2, 2026, at approximately 12:30 am, police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of 111 Avenue and 160 Street, Surrey. The Complainant who heard the shots fired also advised police that there was a distraught male at the door. RCMP SPOSU members arrived on scene and located and detained that male. Police located bullet casings and damage to two vehicles and two homes. No injured persons were located.

SPOSU’s General Investigation Unit (GIU) has assumed conduct of this investigation.
Anyone with information about this incident should contact Surrey Police Service’s non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 26-153 (SU) or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
SHOOTING CAUSING INJURY
The first shooting of 2026 took place in the Newton area of Surrey and caused an injury.
On January 1, 2026, at approximately 11:45 pm, police responded to reports of shots fired inside a home in the area of 140B Street and 59 Avenue, Surrey. SPS members arrived on scene and located an injured male who was transported to hospital with an apparent gunshot wound. That individual was reported to be in stable condition. A second male at the scene was arrested and the investigation into the incident is continuing.
SPS’s Serious Crime Unit (SCU) has assumed conduct of this investigation. Although the investigation is in its early stages, this incident is not believed to be connected to extortion.
Anyone with information about this incident should contact SPS’ non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 26-357 (SP).
NEW YEAR EVE SHOOTING
RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit (SPOSU) were investigating an early morning shooting at a residence in the Cloverdale area of Surrey on new year’s eve.
On December 31, 2025, at approximately 4:25 am, police responded to reports of shots fired at a home in the area of 187 Street and 54 Avenue, Surrey. RCMP SPOSU members attended the location and noted damage to a home and a parked vehicle. Several bullet casings were located in front of the home. Fortunately, no occupants of the residence were injured.
SPOSU’s General Investigation Unit (GIU) has assumed conduct of this investigation. While this is believed to be related to an extortion, whether or not there is a nexus to other ongoing investigations is being assessed and SPOSU GIU investigators are working closely with partner agencies to advance this investigation.
Anyone with information about this incident, the identity of the suspect(s), or has dashcam or CCTV footage should contact SPS’ non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 25-69592 (SU) or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.solvecrime.ca.
RESIDENCE SHOT UP THREE TIMES IN DECEMBER
On three separate occasions in December, RCMP officers responded to shots fired into the same residence located in the 11000-block of 140A Street of Surrey’s Guildford neighbourhood.
The RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit (SPOSU) has responded to three reported incidents of shots fired at the same residence in the 11000 block of 140A Street in Surrey:
On December 7, 2025, at approximately 8:21 am (see previous news release here)
On December 27, 2025, at approximately 7:45 am
On December 28, 2025, at approximately 3:05 am
Investigators believe these incidents are targeted to a resident of the home and do not believe they are linked to any extortions or the BC Gang Conflict.
At each instance, RCMP SPOSU frontline members responded to reports of shots fired from a vehicle, with bullets striking various parts of the residence. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries to residents or neighbours. No arrests have been made at this time. RCMP SPOSU General Investigation Unit (GIU) has taken conduct of the investigation.
Police are asking residents in the area to remain mindful of any suspicious activities and vehicles. Anyone with information and who has yet to speak with police, or anyone who has home surveillance or dash camera footage from dates and times listed above are asked to call Surrey Police Service’s non-emergency number at 604-599-0502, as you may have captured images that could assist the investigators.
ONE EXTORTION RELATED SHOOTING
Police were also busy investigating one extortion-related shooting this week.
Surrey Police say officers were called to the Cloverdale area at about 4:25 a.m. on Wednesday after shots were reportedly fired at the residence and a parked vehicle.
They say several bullet casings were found in front of the home, but no one inside was injured.
The Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit is taking over with the investigation into the shooting, which is thought to be extortion-related.
Surrey’s South Asian community has been targeted by a wave of extortion incidents, with Mayor Brenda Locke recently calling for the federal government to step in to keep residents safe from “international thugs and criminals.”
