TORONTO – A car outside the house of controversial Punjabi talk-show host Joginder Bassi last week was followed by allegations by his detractors that the shooting may be done to detract from the lawsuits he is allegedly facing due to his hot-topic shows that use colourful language and characters to bring amusement to some and pain to others.

The ‘Gaunda Punjab’ host Bassi’s car was shot up in front of his house with the shooter(s) targeting the front windshield. According to sources, the car was parked outside Bassi’s daughter’s home when it was shot but nobody was harmed in the incident. 

The aftermath of the incident was caught on video, which quickly surfaced on social media with many speculating on the motive behind the shooting.

The shooting is being investigated by local police but there is no update whether they have any suspects but many have speculated motives due to the controversial nature of the show

Bassi is a colourful talk-show host in Toronto who many is a closeted gay man (Bassi has not disclosed publicly whether he is gay or not). 

He has been running ‘Gaunda Punjab’ for over 30 years and boasts of a daily viewership of around 150,000 but those figures have not been verified. But the show is extremely popular among Canadian and Punjabi audiences. Big Punjabi celebrities like actors and singers routinely make appearances on his show.
