One stray bullet shot through the security bars and into a Physiotherapy office and landed at the receptionist's desk where the young woman had just been sitting moments earlier. It came very close to killing the receptionist as the bullet entered in middle of security metal bar leaving large hole in metal. SOUTH VANCOUVER – There was a shoot-out in Vancouver's original Punjabi market with bullets flying and hitting a number of stores on the quiet business strip last Friday.
One stray bullet shot through the security bars and into a Physiotherapy office and landed at the receptionist's desk where the young woman had just been sitting moments earlier. It came very close to killing the receptionist as the bullet entered in middle of security metal bar leaving large hole in metal.
One Punjabi market restaurant owner said, "When we had Real gangster in Punjabi Market shopping and running we never witness any shooting like this." He added that Punjabi Market is safe place to shop.
According to DESIBUZZCanada photographer Sukhwant Dhillon, from the angle the shot entered into restaurant business and hit sandwich board sign, it seems like subject shot at must be on foot and running from person shooting from vehicle.
Despite the incident attracting a big police presence, there was no press release from the Vancouver Police Department, which Dhillon and other residents and businesses in the area found shocking and disturbing.
"What is the VPD doing – taking an early weekend off and not informing the media about this big shooting which brought out more than half dozen cars with police putting yellow tape to block off the area," said one businessman who didn't want to give his name. "Why is VPD acting like this and not informing the area about this news."
VPD couldn't be reached for comment on the story but DESIBUZZCanada can confirm that they did not send out a press release on this story. The only press release VPD sent out on Friday was on the Commercial Street homicide.
