Richmond RCMP investigating commercial vehicle collision into overpass
- February 12, 2023
Some days are just crazy and out of whack and Friday was certainly that kind of day for the trucker who made a big boo-boo, leaving his trailer behind after somehow colliding with an overpass. What the hell was he doing and thinking? Shortly after 7 a.m. on Friday February 10, frontline Richmond RCMP responded to Knight Street southbound, after multiple reports of a commercial vehicle collision. It was determined that a commercial vehicle was towing a dump trailer in the raised (vertical) position and it failed to clear the overpass. The commercial vehicle was located some distance away as it was severed from the trailer unit, still lodged underneath the overpass. Police said the driver of the commercial vehicle was uncooperative with investigators.

RICHMOND – Some days are just crazy and out of whack and Friday was certainly that kind of day for the trucker who made a big boo-boo, leaving his trailer behind after somehow colliding with an overpass.
No one was reportedly injured. Due to the time of the morning in which this collision occurred, many travelers were affected during the rush hour commute.
Police said the driver of the commercial vehicle was uncooperative with investigators.
The Richmond Road Safety Unit (RSU) has assumed conduct of this investigation and is working alongside our partners from the Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement branch of the British Columbia Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.
Engineering and structural assessments are being conducted on the Knight Street bridge deck, Cambie Road overpass, and any nearby areas affected.
Richmond RCMP is asking to public for any information or dashcam footage on this incident to please contact us at 604-278-1212 and quote file #2023-4381.
