VANCOUVER – A raucous group of anti-India demonstrators were out in full force Sunday morning in front of the Indian Consulate offices in downtown Vancouver.

DESIBUZZCanada Photo-Journalist was on hand at the Consulate located near Canada Place and reports that there were about 100 people from the local Sikh community under the Sikhs For Justice banner and about 150 other people including anti Indian PM Narendra Modi crowd from the Kanahiya Group.

Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) had announced this week that they were planning to demonstrate outside the Indian Consulate in Vancouver on Sunday, January 26, which is also India's Republic Day. Sikhs For Justice said in a news release that it plans to burn the Indian Constitution at the event but our reporter says the Group didn’t burn the Constitution but merely ripped the photo-copied pages of the document.

SFJ legal team while addressing the Punjab-Indo-Canadian media during Dec. 18th “Meet The Press” stated “Bhai Parmar 2020 (Sikh extremist-revolutionary Talwinder Singh Parmar who was killed by Indian forces in extra-judicial encounter killing) Voter Registration Centre” will be opened on January 23rd, 2020 ahead of India’s 71st Republic Day.

SFJ had also planned to raise Khalistan flag at Consulate General of India, Vancouver on Jan 23rd and to march to the historic site of Komagata Maru Memorial Park but a press release this week stated that both the demonstration and release of the Registration centre will be done on Sunday, January 26.

According to DESIBUZZCanada reporter, the large crowd in front of Indian Consulate, was very aggressive, shouting at the Indian Consulate officials and calling them names.

Despite the loud and aggressive nature of the demonstration, there was no violence or incidents to report so far.
