And Friends Balvir Boparai and Aman Dhaliwal!
What a musical treat! Taking a break from the wedding celebrations – attended the PTC Punjabi Music Awards with the great Sukshinder Shinda, who beat out many top vocalists to win the Best Vocalist for his hit song Rog, which was filmed in beautiful BC. It’s always good times with Shinda ji – he has an infectious, charming and warm personality and he loves to laugh. I told him that I laugh ten times more when I’m with him. This year we did a trek together with our buddy Bobby Nagra to Squamish which was the highlight of our summer and a very memorable. At PTC, we had a tonne of fun meeting all the Punjabi music stars from Hans Raj Hans who received the Lifetime Achievement honours to Manmohan Waris who was also honoured. Met many others like Ranjit Bawa, Parmish Verma, Roshan Prince, who was there with Vancouver businessman Daljit Thind, who is producing the music star’s upcoming film Munda Faridkotia. The highlights of the night for me was Shinda Ji getting the big award and a tantalising and delicious performance by my favourite female Punjabi singer Jasmine Sandlas, who was on fire. The worst performance of the night was by Punjabi rapper Bohemia, you couldn’t hear what the hell he was rapping. But Sandlas made up for him as her vocals were cutting right through the body. Overall a great night capped by a dinner and Haldi Milk at a Five Star hotel in Chandigarh courtesy of Shinda Ji. My time in Chandigarh reminds me of the tag line from my upcoming feature film DESI ANGREJ: The Fusion Generation: “The time to Party is Now!”
