Police sources told DESIBUZZbc Saturday night that Sandhu was shot dead at just after 6pm across from the Ironwood Plaza in Richmond, BC.
So far police have not released any motive or leads in the killing but there are already rumours in the large Indo-Canadian community that puts suspects anywhere from Gurdwara politics and so on.
On Saturday, Sandhu, along with another member of the Vancouver Sikh Youth group had gone to give free langar for their ongoing campaign to feed the hungry in downtown Vancouver. DESIBUZZbc is aware of the identity of the person who accompanied Sandhu to the free langar service downtown and eventually to Richmond where he was shot but we are not reporting it at this time.

Richmond RCMP officers responded to the 11300 block of Steveston Hwy after reports that a male was shot.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team have now taken over the investigation of the case
On June 4, just after 6:00pm, Richmond RCMP received a report of shots fired at a strip mall located at 11320 Steveston Highway, Richmond.
Upon arrival, a male was located suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. EHS attended and the victim was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
On Sunday, police officially identified the victim as 56 year old Amarjit Singh Sandhu. “Although this investigation remains in the early stages, this appears to be a targeted shooting. Sandhu’s family have been notified,” IHIT said in a news release.
“The act of homicide is one that is selfish and cold. There is an extra element of concern when one chooses to commit this crime in such a bold and brazen manner in a very public setting. Fortunately, no other individuals were injured, “says S/Sgt. Jennifer Pound.
IHIT, along with Richmond RCMP and the Integrated Forensic Identification Section will be at the scene throughout the day in order to process evidence and speak with the many witnesses that were in the area.
IHIT is asking anyone with information to contact the IHIT tipline at 1-877-551-4448, or if you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crimestoppers.
The shooting resulted in numerous vehicles being placed behind a police line for several hours, stranding the shoppers at the strip mall, adjacent to Ironwood Plaza, reported Richmond News.
Eight police cars and an ambulance were at the scene at around 6:45 p.m. Officers cordoned off a large area of the parking lot and many businesses were forced to shut down early.
