The bids started from a base price of $ 5000 with the final bid of $13000 by Surrey businessman Manjit Singh Litt.

SURREY – A portrait of Flying Sikh Milkha Singh, who was in Vancouver recently for a Rotary Club fundraiser, painted by renowned Indo Canadian painter Jarnail Singh was sold for $ 13000 at a charity auction.

At the annual fund raising dinner by Surrey Newton Rotary Club the portrait specially commissioned by the Club was auctioned to raise funds for the School for Blind and Deaf Children in Ludhiana.

Milkha Singh and his wife Nirmal Milkha Singh were guests of honor at the event organized at Grand Taj Banquet Hall recently.

The bids started from a base price of $ 5000 with the final bid of $13000 by Surrey businessman Manjit Singh Litt.

Jarnail Singh won acclaim recently for his series of paintings depicting Komagata Maru incident. He has been recognized by the city of Surrey with Life Time achievement Award of Surrey Civic Treasure in 2008.
