- June 17, 2016
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) published photos of a gold or silver SUV on Friday, asking the public to help identify its driver. IHIT said they wish to speak to the driver of vehicle, which appears to be a Chevrolet Trail Blazer.
VANCOUVER – Police have released photos of a vehicle believed to be connected to the murder of a well known Sikh leader Amarjit Singh "Amar" Sandhu, who was deeply involved in Gurdwara politics at Ross Street temple in Vancouver.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) published photos of a gold or silver SUV on Friday, asking the public to help identify its driver.
IHIT said they wish to speak to the driver of vehicle, which appears to be a Chevrolet Trail Blazer.
The driver is sought in connection with the June 4 shooting at a busy Richmond plaza, which killed Sandhu, a wealthy B.C. real estate developer reportedly worth upwards of $100 million
Sandhu, who was also known for his philanthropy with Guru Nanak's Free Kitchen, was just steps from his truck when he was gunned down at approximately 6 p.m. The 56-year-old was rushed to hospital but died a short time later.
Sandhu is the owner of Sandhill Developments, a residential and commercial construction company passed in Richmond.
Police believe he was killed in a targeted hit.
The shooting was witnessed by dozens of people at Ironwood Plaza, who told police varying accounts of the events.
At the time, IHIT said the suspect had been described as a man in his 20s, who is approximately 6' with a slender build. He was wearing a light-coloured hooded sweatshirt or coat, and may have been wearing a baseball hat.
Anyone with more information on shooting, the suspect or the SUV is asked to contact police at 1-877-551-4448 (IHIT) or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
