Police Arrest South Asian Sexual Assault Suspect But Charges Still To Be Laid

This incident occurred on Thursday, February 4, 2021 shortly before 1 p.m. Two youths were at a park in the 13200-block of 64 Avenue, when one of the youths was groped from behind by an unknown man. The youth was physically uninjured and reported the incident to the police.

SURREY - Surrey RCMP said Fridau that a suspect has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault that occurred Thursday at a park in Newton.
The arrest is related to an incident that occurred on February 4, 2021 shortly before 1 p.m. during which, a man in Pioneer Park groped a youth. This afternoon, officers from the Surrey RCMP Youth Unit arrested a 65-year-old turbaned South Asian man for sexual assault.
This incident occurred on Thursday, February 4, 2021 shortly before 1 p.m. Two youths were at a park in the 13200-block of 64 Avenue, when one of the youths was groped from behind by an unknown man. The youth was physically uninjured and reported the incident to the police.
The man, who has not been identified, was released from custody with several conditions including not attending Surrey schools and parks. The man was earlier described as South Asian, wearing an orange turban, white scarf around his mouth, grey hooded sweater with the hood up, “traditional pants”, and sneakers.
Charges have not yet been laid, as the investigation is ongoing.
