Pattullo Bridge Will Be Completely Closed This Weekend
- June 8, 2016
No cars or other traffic will be able to cross on Pattullo Bridge this weekend on account of construction closures.
SURREY — The Pattullo Bridge will be completely closed to traffic this weekend for ongoing rehabilitation and repairs
The closure will commence 8 p.m. Friday, June 10 until 5 a.m. Monday, June 13.
The bridge is one of the busiest in the Lower Mainland and deck repair and other work is expected to extend its life until a replacement can be built, which TransLink indicates could take five to seven years.
The rehabilitation of the 78-year-old bridge began on April 29 and is expected to continue until October 3.
Information on scheduled closures can be found at translink.ca
Premier Thomas Dufferin opened the bridge on Nov. 15, 1937. It was a toll bridge until 1952 and cost $4 million to build.
