BURNABY - On March 16th, Poetic Justice Foundation unveiled "OVERCASTE: Confront. Disrupt. Evolve." - an unprecedented museum exhibit curated by Anita Lal and Dr. Sharanjit Kaur Sandhra.
This exhibit casts a spotlight on the often-ignored issue of caste discrimination within the Dalit-Canadian community, challenging the misconception that caste does not exist in Canada.
Through the stories of Dalit youth in British Columbia, "OVERCASTE" seeks to break the silence on caste in the Punjabi Diaspora, urging a reflection on privilege and the harmful impacts of caste pride.
Aiming to educate and mobilize for change, the exhibit will be displayed at the Burnaby Village Museum over spring break and then from May 6th through to September 2nd, 2024, before touring across BC and Canada.
