Long time Vancouver Kingsway NDP Member of Parliament, Don Davies, visited India Cultural Centre of Canada, Gurdwara Nanak Niwas recently. He was accompanied by community activist Sarwan Singh Randhawa. Davies is closely associated with the South Asian/Punjabi community. Davies has been serving his constituents as an MP for sixteen years. After paying obeisance to Shri Guru Granth Sahib ji  in the Darbar Hall, Davies took a guided tour of the Gurdwara Sahib. He was very impressed with this spacious place of worship and admired the Gurdwara management for its contribution not only to the Punjabi community but also the community at large. He was pleasantly surprised to learn that this place of worship also serves as the headquarter of the popular Highway to Heaven Association. More than 25 places of worship along this small stretch of #5 Road is popularly known as Richmond's Highway to Heaven. Gurdwara Nanak Niwas is also very popular for weddings. Afterwards, Davies had a very enjoyable conversation with some members of the Gurdwara management. Before leaving, Davis enjoyed a delicious vegetarian langar and profusely thanked the Gurdwara Management for a very warm welcome. Gurdwara President Mohan Singh Sandhu and Secretary Balwant Singh Sanghera thanked Davies and Randhawa for their visit.
