SURREY – Shooters continue to target South Asian businesses as the latest firing was at the York Centre business complex.

Surrey Police Service (SPS) said their officers are investigating shots fired at a Surrey business complex that has resulted in property damage.

On Monday, July 21, shortly before 11:00 am, SPS was called to a business located in 8100 block 128 Street for a report of damage to the exterior of their business that was first discovered by staff at approximately 1:00 am on July 21. 

Upon police arrival it was confirmed that the damage was likely made from gun shots. There were no reports of any injuries related to the property or surrounding properties. It is unknown if the business damaged was the intended target or when the shots were fired.

SPS’s Front Line Investigative Support Team (FLIS) has assumed conduct of the investigation. This investigation in its early stages and connections to other incidents and potential motives are being explored.

A day before there was another shooting in the neighbourhood of Guildford, Surrey.

On July 20, at approximately 11:05 am, police received calls for shots fired in the area of 152 Street and 96 Avenue, Surrey. RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit (SPOSU) members attended the area and located numerous shell casings. Fortunately, nobody was injured as a result of the incident.

RCMP SPOSU General Investigation Unit (GIU) members attended the scene and assisted with the investigation.
