Merritt Councillor Mike Bhangu Says Uttering Threat Charges Untrue And Phony

Merritt City councilor Mike Bhangu, who has been a long time council member, has been charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. But Bhangu called the allegations untrue and phony. "The allegations are coming from an uninvited individual who came to my home, placed my safety in question by virtue of being there, and who had a problem with me asking him to leave my property. The allegations are untrue period,” he told DESIBUZZCanada.

MERRITT – Merritt City councilor Mike Bhangu is refuting allegations that he uttered threats against a person.
Bhangu, who has been a long time council member, has been charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
But Bhangu called the allegations untrue and phony.
"The allegations are coming from an uninvited individual who came to my home, placed my safety in question by virtue of being there, and who had a problem with me asking him to leave my property. The allegations are untrue period,” he told DESIBUZZCanada.
A sworn date of Aug. 16 on the BC Court Services Online website shows Bhangu has been charged in the case. The offence date is listed as June 29, 2021.
City staff has confirmed that it is the individual in question.

Bhangu is set to appear in Merritt court on Sept. 14, 2021 at 9:30a.m.
