VANCOUVER – Despite winning an overwhelming victory at the Human Rights Tribunal, some Indo-Canadian veterinarians are still being treated like second class citizens with the College of Veterinarians of BC (CVBC) refusing to payout the award given by the tribunal, which found that the College had systematically discriminated and abused the immigrant veterinarians.

Indo-Canadian Veterinarians have faced the most extreme form of racism and prejudice at the hands of CVBC, formerly known as British Columbia Veterinary Medical Association (BCVMA), the very same organizations that governs them, making it akin to a slave owner providing justice and fairness to slaves.

And despite the change in government, the College is continuing their rogue ways and refusing to follow the conditions and orders given by the Human Rights Tribunal ruling.

After failure by the College to abide by the Tribunal decision, the veterinarians were forced to file lawsuits against the college this week.

In one lawsuit, Dr. Arminder Brar and Dr. Dalbir Benipal are suing CVBC, former Registrar Valerie Osbourne, Dr. Adrian King-Harris, Dr. Dave Kirby, Dr. Ray Snopek, Dr. Patrick O'Grady and Dr. Robert Ashburner, who said on tape that "Gone are the Days when we could burn them down in a quicker way" in a sting operation.

In the second lawsuit, Dr. Bhupinder Johar and his Panjwar Enterprises, doing business as Haney Animal Hospital and Dr. Naresh Kumar Joshi are suing suing CVBC, former Registrar Valerie Osbourne, Dr. Adrian King-Harris, Dr. Dave Kirby and Dr. Robert Ashburner.

These lawsuits are not only asking for the award money due to them but is also suing the College and the named individuals for loss of business income, pain and stress including depression. Potential award by the court to these physicians could be in the millions.

In the case of Joshi and Johar, both men went through great hardships and went into clinical depression due to the emotional abuse and financial hardship they allegedly suffered at the hands of CVBC and the power structure it employed.

CVBC had settled with Indo-Veterinarians leader Hakam Bhullar and Pavittar Bajwa but have refused to pay out the awards to the other physicians who were part of the team of Indo-Canadian veterinarians who won the Human Rights case.

Indo-Canadian Veterinarians have faced the most extreme form of racism and prejudice at the hands of College of Veterinarians of BC (CVBC), formerly known as British Columbia Veterinary Medical Association (BCVMA), the very same organizations that is in place to govern them, making it akin to a slave owner providing justice and fairness to slaves.

While the provincial Liberal government from the days of Gordon Campbell and now Premier Christy Clark has stood by and supported the “racist” CVBC, despite mountains of evidence against the racist culprits heading the power structure of the CVBC.

But in the face of great personal and financial hardships, including depression and hellish nightmares, Dr. Hakam Bhullar and his Indo-Canadian Vets for Justice have finally won a huge vindication, a moral, spiritual and historical victory at the BC Human Rights Tribunal, which has ruled that the BCVMA-CVBC targeted the foreign trained doctors and ran a campaign to discredit them while standing by the “racist” and prejudice members of their governing board.
