Indo-canadian Man Arrested In Granville Street Stabbing
- July 8, 2016
Twenty-one-year-old Vancouver resident Amandeep Singh Grewal has been charged with assault with a weapon and aggravated assault. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 27th.
VANCOUVER – Charges have been approved after an Indo-Canadian man was arrested by the Vancouver Police following a stabbing in the Granville Entertainment District.
Twenty-one-year-old Vancouver resident Amandeep Singh Grewal has been charged with assault with a weapon and aggravated assault. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 27th.
Shortly before 2:00 a.m. on Saturday July 2nd, two men were fighting inside a bar on Granville Street. Staff removed the two men from the bar, but they again began to throw punches on the street until one of them allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the other multiple times.
Police arrived and located the 27-year-old victim covered in blood. He was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Some reports of the stabbing suggested police were still looking for a suspect in this incident. In fact, officers stopped and arrested Grewal, who is believed to be involved, a short distance away.
