Forty-five-year-old accused pimp Sukhminder Lota has been charged with two counts of human trafficking of a person under 18 by exercising control, and financially benefitting from human trafficking.

BRAMPATON – An Indo-Canadian man from Brampton is among four accused of forcing two teenage girls into the sex trade in Toronto.

Forty-five-year-old accused pimp Sukhminder Lota has been charged with two counts of human trafficking of a person under 18 by exercising control, and financially benefitting from human trafficking.

Toronto Police Service officers laid a total of 31 charges against the four, saying they trafficked the two girls, 15 and 16, and then took the money they were paid over a four-day period.

Officers said one of the victim’s family members called police and an investigation was started by the human trafficking enforcement team.

Police say one girl was recruited through social media in Toronto and coerced into the sex trade. She was taken outside the city, where the second girl was recruited, they said.

The two teens were then brought back to Toronto where one of the girls was sexually assaulted.
