Vancouver Police said they arrested Harpreet Gill, a 37-year-old man from Surrey, after he drove erratically and believed to be impaired. Gill drove toward oncoming traffic and pedestrians near Georgia Street. Fortunately, no one was injured. Gill, the lone occupant and driver of the Camry, Harpreet Gill, has been charged with dangerous driving. Additional charges related to impaired driving are anticipated. All vehicles involved had little to no damage and Gill remains in custody.

VANCOUVER – An Indo-Canadian man was arrested last night for driving drunk and being a danger to pedestrians and other vehicles in downtown Vancouver.

Vancouver Police said they arrested Harpreet Gill, a 37-year-old man from Surrey, after he drove erratically and believed to be impaired. Gill drove toward oncoming traffic and pedestrians near Georgia Street. Fortunately, no one was injured.

 

 

Just before 10:00 p.m. Tuesday night, officers responded to several 9-1-1 calls regarding a grey Toyota Camry driving toward pedestrians at a bus stop near West Georgia and Granville. Witnesses also saw the Camry drive towards oncoming traffic before leaving the area.

A witness followed the vehicle, as the driver continued to drive dangerously, and provided important updates to 9-1-1 dispatchers, which were relayed to responding officers.

Officers were able to locate the Camry a short time later on Main Street near National, and used their police vehicles to box it in and safely prevent the driver from taking off.

Harpreet Gill, the lone occupant and driver of the Camry, Harpreet Gill, has been charged with dangerous driving. Additional charges related to impaired driving are anticipated.

All vehicles involved had little to no damage and Gill remains in custody.
