GANGLAND SHOOTING: Police Say Newton Shooting Tied To Lower Mainland Gang Conflict

Early indications are that the male victim had been pursued by two men at the time of the shooting. The parties involved in the shooting are believed to be known to one another and associated to the Lower Mainland Gang Conflict. The investigation is ongoing as officers seek to identify all parties involved. However, no names or identity of the shooters and the victim were given but the conflict has a lot of Indo-Canadians-South Asians involved.

SURREY – Although no one got killed but Surrey RCMP General Investigation Unit (GIU) is investigating a shooting Monday night in the Newton area of Surrey which police say tied to lower mainland gang activity.
On September 14, at approximately 10:15 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting in the 12900-block of 65A Avenue. Officers attended and located an uninjured adult male who had been the target of a shooting. Surrey RCMP GIU took conduct of the investigation and found evidence confirming that a shooting had occurred.

However, no names or identity of the shooters and the victim were given but the conflict has a lot of Indo-Canadians-South Asians involved.
“While there is no indication of any on-going risk to the public, when this shooting took place it put community members in danger,” says Staff Sergeant Kirk Duncan, General Investigation Unit Commander. “This type of violence has no place in our community.”
