Police have finally identified the victim shot and killed outside Langley Chuck-e-Cheese as Ravinder Singh Sandhu. DESIBUZZCanada reported earlier this week that the victim was Ravinder Sandhu and he has subsequently died from his injuries he suffered in the shooting. Police said Sandhu was known to police and his murder is believed to be a targeted incident.

VANCOUVER – The Indo-Canadian man shot and seriously injured in the parking lot of a Langley strip mall last Friday evening has died, according to DESIBUZZCanada sources.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has finally identified the victim as 42-year-old Ravinder Singh Sandhu.

IHIT is calling on the public to help further its investigation into a fatal shooting in Langley, B.C.

On February 7, 2020 at around 9:30 p.m., the Langley RCMP responded to reports of shots fired at the parking lot of the Langley Crossing Shopping Center at 6339 200 Street.  Sandhu was found shot inside his vehicle by first responders.  He was transported to hospital where he remained in critical condition until just recently, when he died of his injuries.

IHIT has conduct of the investigation and is working closely with the Langley RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Services and the B.C. Coroners Service to gather evidence.  Investigators are looking to speak with any witnesses who have yet to come forward and requesting dash cam video from anyone who was travelling in and around the area, before and after the shooting.

Police said Sandhu was known to police and his murder is believed to be a targeted incident.

“We share the community’s concern over this shooting in a public place that left one man dead and placed other lives at risk,” says Sergeant Frank Jang of IHIT.  “We also share the community’s fervor to bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice and call on anyone who can help us do so to come forward.”

“It is unfortunate that a second brazen homicide has occurred here in Langley.  The level of risk to the community is unacceptable and it is extremely concerning for me, as it must be for Langley residents, that this happened again outside a busy restaurant with young kids nearby,” says Superintendent Murray Power, Officer-in-Charge of Langley Detachment.  “Members of the Langley Detachment work collectively with our partners across the region to mitigate violent crime and ensure all intelligence is shared.  If anyone has information about this murder, I would urge them to call IHIT investigators.  We cannot be complacent.”

Although police have not identified the victim or whether he has died but sources close to the case tell DESIBUZZCanada that the victim was Ravinder Sandhu and he has subsequently died from his injuries he suffered in the shooting. Sandhu owned a local towing company, according to a reliable source who knew him.

DESIBUZZCanada reported earlier this week that according to our sources, the shooting occurred outside the Chuck-e-Cheese restaurant, where a birthday party was just wrapping up. Sandhu may have been attending the party with his family.

Langley RCMP responded at around 9:35 p.m. to the parking lot of the small shopping complex located on 200th Street between 64th Avenue and Willowbrook Drive.

A man (Sandhu) was found suffering from what appear to be gunshot wounds, and was transported to hospital in grave condition, according to police. Police said at the time that they are currently gathering evidence, but say this does not appear to be a random act.

Video from the scene shows first responders removing the man from the front driver's seat of a black GMC truck. As the man is carried out of the truck to be placed onto a waiting stretcher, the truck momentarily starts rolling before first responders manage to get control of the vehicle.

Aaron Flack was eating with friends at a nearby Earl's and was just coming out of the restaurant when he heard the gunshots. He said he saw two people running away, and he and his friends immediately took cover in his vehicle, reported CTV News.

"I definitely thought it was a shooting, that was the immediate reaction," Flack said

The area will be cordoned off for some time as police continue to investigate. Anyone with information can call Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200, or to report anonymously, contact Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
