FREE PUBLICITY: Punjabi Singer KS Makhan Gets More Infamy With “Fake Guns” Arrest During Music Video Shoot
- February 2, 2022
There was genuine shock and surprise when videos of Punjabi singer KS Makhan being arrested by Abbotsford police started making the rounds Sunday night on tik-tok and whatsapp. Many asked, “was he really being arrested or was it part of his music video shoot”? Well Makhan was really arrested by Abbotsford police Sunday afternoon thanks to his amateur music video production team which didn’t get the permits to use replica (fake) guns in a public place. So when the neighbours, looking at people being kidnapped at gunpoint, called Abbotsford police, they came with guns blazing with almost 30 cars to take down Makhan and his music video crew. The incident is in keeping with Makhan’s infamous image of a “Bad Boy” (Veilly as it’s known in Punjabi) and as they say in show business, any publicity is good publicity and when it’s infamy then it’s even more impactful.

ABBOTSFORD – There was genuine shock and surprise when videos of Punjabi singer KS Makhan being arrested by Abbotsford police started making the rounds Sunday night on tik-tok and whatsapp.
The whole incident went down on January 30th, at 2:06 pm when the Abbotsford Police Department received a 911 call from a citizen reporting people with guns in a parking lot of Cardinal Ave here in Abbotsford.
Police arrived and took down Makhan and the video production crew at gun point. Upon their detention, two replica rifles were located, police said.
All parties were spoken to, and during this investigation, it was determined that a movie (music video for Makhan’s latest song “Jatt Phir Aa Tyar Khutti Paun Nu” (Jatt is ready to rock-n-roll again, Baby) was being filmed.
Police said there was no prior notification was made to the Police Dept or the City about this occurring but everyone was cooperative with the police and advised that should they wish to film a movie in a public place that involved firearms in the future; local officials needed to be advised through the appropriate channels.
Abbotsford Police Const. Paul Walker said that side of town has been “known for gang violence and weapons-related files” over the years and is also adjacent to a shopping complex.
“Given the information from the caller, the AbbyPD took this call very seriously and responded with multiple officers,” he said.
Walker said police conducted a “high-risk arrest,” and several people were detained.
Walker said all people involved were released without charges, and the police file is now closed.
The incident is in keeping with Makhan’s infamous image of a “Bad Boy” (Veilly as it’s known in Punjabi) and as they say in show business, any publicity is good publicity and when it’s infamy then it’s even more impactful.
